personalities that collided over the earliest efforts to get America into space long before the founding of NASA.

10:00   *Global Voices “A Panther in Africa/Kinshasa 2.0” – On October 30, 1969, Pete O’Neal, a young Black Panther in Kansas City, MO, was arrested for transporting a gun across state lines. One year later, O’Neal fled; for more than 30 years, he has lived in Tanzania as one of the last

American exiles from an era when activists considered themselves at war with the U.S. government. Today, this community organizer confronts very different challenges and finds himself living between two worlds: America and Africa, his radical past and his uncertain future.

In "Kinshasa 2.0," an Internet campaign helps in the release of a presidential candidate jailed for talking openly about the lack of democracy. Moving between a militarized Kinshasa and Second Life (a 3D virtual chat program), the power of the Internet for democracy is explored.

7:00     *Austin City Limits “Los Lonely Boys followed by The Gourds” – Los Loney Boys consolidates its massive success with songs from Sacred, its latest slab of “Texican rock & roll.”  The Gourds follow with their iconoclastic country/folk/Tex-Mex/Cajun rock.

8:00     *Masterpiece Mystery! “The Shadows in the North” – Billie Piper (Mansfield Park) reprises her role as young sleuth Sally Lockhart in “The Shadow of the North,” based on the novels by Philip Pullman. An elderly lady loses her money on an investment; a conjuror is pursued by thugs; and a clairvoyant mentions the name of the richest man in Europe and his mysterious company.  Seemingly unconnected events set Sally Lockhart on the trail of an evil far more awful than she could ever imagine. Also starring JJ Feild (Northanger Abbey) as Fred Garland.

9:30     *Mystery! “Death in Holy Orders” – St. Anselm’s is a select High Anglican ecclesiastical college and retreat situated on a remote part of the Suffolk coast. When theology student Ronald Treeves is found smothered under a pile of earth and sand on the beach nearby, it appears that he was the victim of a fall. However, his father - wealthy industrialist Sir Alfred Treeves - is convinced that the college authorities have glossed over the truth to avoid a scandal. He demands that Scotland Yard re-examine the verdict of accidental death. Commander Dalgliesh anticipates nothing more than a nostalgic return to old haunts and a straightforward examination of the evidence. No sooner has he scratched the surface than there is another death. Worse is to come. St Anselm’s is a community under threat. Archdeacon Matthew Crampton is intent on closing the college and selling off its assets - news that is met with anger and fear by the tutors, staff and ordinands. On the morning after his arrival, his body savagely beaten is found in the chapel before one of the church’s treasures, a painting of the Last Judgment, which someone has vandalized. Dalgliesh now has a major murder inquiry on his hands. (Part 1)

11:00      *P.O.V. Belarusian Waltz” – Belarus has been called “Europe's last dictatorship.”  Since 1994, Alexander Lukashenko has ruled the former Soviet republic with a despotic hand, jailing the opposition, shutting down the press and refusing to investigate the assassinations of dissidents. He has virtually silenced his critics -- but not one lone performance artist who stages public stunts mocking the dictator's pretensions. This program is the story of Alexander Pushkin, whose audacious, comical exploits earn him the hostility of the police and the consternation of

his family. This offbeat tale of post-modern street theater meeting 1930s-style authoritarianism offers a surprising window into the soul of the Belarusian people. (60 minutes)

One by one, his opponents underestimated him; one by one, Reagan surprised them, rising to become a president who always preferred to see America as a "shining city on a hill." (Part 1)

Now in a direct confrontation with Congress, as the administration asserts executive privilege to head off investigations into domestic wiretapping and the firing of U.S. attorneys, FRONTLINE meticulously traces the behind-closed-doors battle within the administration over the power of

the presidency and the rule of law.

10:00   *Global Voices “Father Roy: Inside the School of Assassins” – The Western Hemisphere Institute for Security and Cooperation (formerly the U.S. Army School of the Americas) in Fort Benning, GA, has, according to one U.S. Congressman, “the nefarious distinction of being the place in the United States where the worst human rights abusers in the Western Hemisphere come to learn military tactics and to teach them.” This program combines explosive and previously unreported information about torture training at Fort Benning with the extraordinary life story and experiences of Father Roy Bourgeois, the daring activist who is leading the campaign to close down the school.

11:00   The Return of the Cuyahoga – On June 22, 1969, the polluted Cuyahoga River caught fire.  The river didn't just burn in Cleveland -- it burned in the nation's imagination. The country was beginning to pay attention to what was happening to its natural resources.  The fire started a chain of events that hasn't stopped yet.  These include the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, Earth Day, the creation of Environmental Protection Agencies at the federal and state levels and a rapidly growing consciousness about the environment in America. The Cuyahoga is America's best example yet of a watery success story.  The dead river came clean -- and back to life again. (Special) (60 minutes)

9:30     *Mystery! “Death in Holy Orders” (Part 2)

11:00   *P.O.V. “The Judge and the General” – When in 1998 Chilean judge Juan Guzmán was assigned the first criminal cases against the country's ex-dictator, General Augusto Pinochet, no one expected much. Guzmán had supported Pinochet's 1973 coup -- waged as an anti-Communist crusade -- that left the democratically elected president, Salvador Allende, and thousands of others dead or "disappeared." The filmmakers trace the judge's descent into what he calls "the abyss," where he uncovers the past, including his own role in the tragedy. This program reveals one of the 20th century's most notorious episodes and tells a cautionary tale about violating human rights in the name of "higher ideals." (90 minutes)
